San Vicente: Other Projects will be implemented in different areas of the country.

Banco Agricola and the Pan Amerian Development Foundation (PADF) will help more that 460 students in the Catholic School Villa Los Angeles, in the neighborhood Dos Quebradas, in San Vicente.  They build eight classrooms with funds that came from a percentage of remittance transfer fees.

The inauguration ceremony for the six classrooms was held yesterday in the morning before authorities of the educational establishment and the beneficiaries.

The project is the result of an agreement signed on February 2004, between PADF, which is part of the Organization of American States (OAS), and Banco Agrícola.

The agreement establishes that for each remittance transaction, regardless of the quantity transferred, both organizations will contribute a percentage to be destined to projects in different communities of El Salvador.

These sites were chosen by members of Banco Agrícola and PADF, among several proposals submitted by Salvadoran social organizations and leaders in the United States.  Those presenting the greatest need were chosen.

“During the first phase of Program Manos Unidas por El Salvador, $65,000 were contributed.  This is part of Banco Agrícolas compromise with strengthening the education of Salvadoran children and with the economic social development of the country.  We seek a productive destiny for the remittances that our compatriots send,” mentioned Joaquín Rivas, from Banco Agrícola.

The school principal, Sor Ana Gladis portillo, declared that the aid will benefit 460 students.
