La Unión.  The students in the neighborhood of El Piche and El Carmen receive help.  There was more of this in Tejutla, Chalatenango.

The computer equipment donated to the school Cacique in El Piche, El Carmen cost almost $15,000.

The help was channeled by the Pan American Development Foundation, an organization affiliated to the Organization of American States, and was completed as part of the Programa Manos Unidas por El Salvador that Banco Agrícola supported through its development projects.

In this plan, for each remittance transaction, the bank and PADF will provide a certain percentage of money.  This money will be used to finance the projects.

PADF provided assistance in Tejutla, Chalatenango.  There, the assistance was given to elementary students.

El Piche

120 students will be able to enjoy the computers in the school of El Piche.

This is the second phase of a process technologically equipping the school.  In the first phase, 20 computers were donates, but these were not enough to meet the student’s demand.  For this reason, a second donation of the same size is being made.

“Banco Agrícola will provide the young adults with a high technology tool,” expressed one of the members of the entity.

There are about 18,000 people living in the neighborhood.  There is one school and two health centers.  In the school, one of the main deficiencies for a long time was the lack of a computer center, a factor that led to school abandonment.  This is why the authorities of the institution decided to seek help.

To this date, Manos Unidas por El Salvador has implemented six projects chosen by Banco Agrícola and PADF, among several proposals submitted by Salvadoran social organizations and leaders living in the United States.

Those with the greatest need were chosen.

The funds provided are subject to auditing to guarantee that they are destined to the designated projects.

The participating institutions in the program are confident that the resources will be used adequately by the recipients.

Collaboration

•    Computer training is fundamental to the education of children and young adults.
•    Banco Agrícola considers that ensuring an integral formation among populations of communities in need is a priority.
•    The entity will continue with their program to assist neighbors in other communities.
